Description: Caspase-4 Antibody: Caspases are a family of cysteine proteases that can be divided into the apoptotic and inflammatory caspase subfamilies. Unlike the apoptotic caspases, members of the inflammatory subfamily are generally not involved in cell death but are associated with the immune response to microbial pathogens. Members of this subfamily include caspase-1, -4, -5, and -12. Activation of these caspases results in the cleavage and activation of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1 beta and IL-18. Caspase-4 was initially identified as a homologous protein to Caspase-1 and the C. elegans Ced-3 which could induce apoptosis in transfected cells. More recent studies have shown that it can be activated by ER stress and has been suggested to be involved in multiple neuronal pathologies such as Alzheimer's disease.

Description: TMEM184C Antibody: Anaplastic thyroid cancer is one of the most lethal forms of cancer, but the precise carcinogenic mechanism has not been identified. TMEM184C, also known as TMEM34, was identified in a cDNA microarray analysis as being down-regulated in anaplastic thyroid cancers compared to normal thyroid tissues. TMEM184C protein expression was also lower in cell lines derived from these types of cancers compared to that of normal thyroid tissues or cell lines based on other types of thyroid cancers. Furthermore, transfection of TMEM34 into KTA2 cells led to the inhibition of cell growth, suggesting that TMEM184C might act as a tumor suppressor in anaplastic thyroid cancers.

Supplier: ProSci Inc.
Description: ECRG4 Antibody: The esophageal cancer-related gene 4 (ECRG4), also known as Augurin, was identified through differential display screening between esophageal cancer and normal tissue. Hypermethylation of CpG sites in the ECRG4 promoter correlate with ECRG4 downregulation in numerous esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues.. In transfected cells, overexpression of ECRG4 induced G1 arrest, dephosphorylation of Rb and decreased expression of cyclins D1 and D3. Increased expression of ECRG4 in aged mouse brain is observed compared with young mouse brain. The increased ECRG4 level was accompanied by elevated senescence-associated acidic beta-galactosidase activity, suggesting that ECRG4 is involved in cellular differentiation and senescence.

Description: KLRA2 Antibody: KLRA2 (also known as Ly49B) is a member of the LY49 family of receptors in Natural Killer (NK) cells that bind to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class 1. These proteins are classified as either activating or inhibitory receptors based on whether they possess an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM) in their cytoplasmic region (for inhibitory receptors), or an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM) that transmits activating signals resulting in phosphorylation of several substrates. KLRA2 is thought to be an inhibitory receptor and associates with the protein tyrosine phosphatases SHP1, SHP2, and SHIP in transfected cells. This antibody is predicted to not cross-react with other LY49 receptors.

Supplier: ProSci Inc.
Description: erebral Dopamine Neurotrophic Factor (CDNF), also known as ARMETL1 (ARMET-like protein 1), is a secreted protein with eight conserved cysteine residues. It is belongs to the ARMET family. CDNF/ARMETL1 is a evolutionary conserved protein which can protect and restore the function of dopaminergic neurons in the rat model of Parkinson's disease, suggesting that CDNF might be beneficial for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. CDNF is widely expressed in neurons in several brain regions including cerebral cortex, hippocampus, substantia nigra, striatum and cerebellum. Human CDNF is glycosylated and secreted from transiently transfected cells. CDNF promotes the survival, growth, and function of dopamine-specific neurons and is expressed in brain regions that undergo cocaine-induced neuroplasticity.

Supplier: ProSci Inc.
Description: CDIP Antibody: The p53 tumor-suppressor gene integrates numerous signals that control cell life and death; loss of its functions contributes to the development of most cancers. CDIP is a novel pro-apoptotic target gene whose inhibition abrogates p53-mediated apoptotic responses. Overexpression of CDIP induced apoptosis in transfected cells while siRNA suppression of caspase-8 mRNA blocked this CDIP-induced apoptosis, indicating that the CDIP-dependent apoptosis pathway proceeds through extrinsic cell death pathway. CDIP may thus represent a novel target for drug design to maximize p53 response and sensitize tumor cells to cancer therapy. Multiple isoforms of CDIP are known to exist.

Description: Sodium pyruvate is used by cells as an easily accessible carbohydrate source. Additionally, it is involved with amino acid metabolism and initiates the Kreb′s cycle. The 100 mM solution should be diluted 1:100 for most cell culture. The use of sodium pyruvate in Wallen fermentation medium to enhance the conversion of oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid by <i>Bacillus sphaericus</i> has been described. A protocol that uses sodium pyruvate to establish stably transfected human B cell lines has been published. It improves coliform recovery when present in culture medium.
