Double gloving

INCREASED PROTECTION BY DOUBLE GLOVING

In order to increase the level of protection while handling cytotoxic material, a double-gloving system is recommended. Glove defects are often not identified at the time of incident. Wearing gloves of two different colours allows the operator to immediately identify a breach and change gloves.

Pictures 1 to 5 show the single steps on how to put on the second layer of gloves. For the choice of the product itself, there is not a "best practice". The operator may need to try several different combinations of gloves and sizes. i.e. some operators may find that a larger glove inside and a smaller outside works well for them, others may choose the same size for both inside and outside.
