It is a non-polar sorbent, manufactured using a silane and endcapped in order to reduce the polar secondary interactions associated with surface silanol groups.

Description: ISOLUTE® C8 has the broad range of polarity from a aqueous matrix as it has the combination of both strong primary (non-polar) and secondary (silanol) interactions. To provide additional polar interactions associated with surface silanol groups the sorbent is not endcapped. C8 sorbent is less retentive than C18 when retention is based solely on non-polar interactions. The surface silanols are more available for secondary interactions compared with the non-endcapped C18.
