Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-9083R-A750)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: FBXW5 is a member of the F-box protein family, members of which are characterised by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. The F-box proteins constitute one of the four subunits of ubiquitin protein ligase complex called SCFs (SKP1-cullin-F-box), which function in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination. The F-box proteins are divided into three classes: Fbws containing WD-40 domains, Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats, and Fbxs containing either different protein-protein interaction modules or no recognisable motifs. FBXW5 contains WD-40 domains, in addition to an F-box motif, so it belongs to the Fbw class. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene, however, they were found to be nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) candidates, hence not represented.

Description: Members of the suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS) family of proteins contain C-terminal regions of homology called the SOCS box, which serves to couple SOCS proteins and their binding partners with the Elongin B and C complex. Several other families of proteins also contain SOCS boxes, but differ from the SOCS proteins in the type of domain they contain upstream of the SOCS box. The largest family of SOCS box-containing proteins is the ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing (ASB) protein family. Members of the ASB family include ASB-1 through ASB-18 and are involved in a variety of biological processes. ASB-17 is a 295 amino acid member of this family. ASB-17 contains one ankyrin repeat and one SOCS box domain. ASB-17 is thought to be a substrate-recognition subunit of a SCF-like ECS (Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein) E3 ubiquitin protein ligase complex. This complex mediates the ubiquitination of target proteins and their subsequent proteasomal degradation.

Description: F-box proteins are critical components of the SCF (Skp1-CUL-1-F-box protein) type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex and are involved in substrate recognition and protein recruitment. F-box proteins are members of a large family that regulate the cell cycle, immune response, signaling cascades and developmental programs by targeting proteins, such as cyclins, for degradation by the proteasome after ubiquitination. FBL11, also known as FBXL11 (F-box and leucine-rich repeat protein 11), CXXC8, KDM2A, JHDM1A (JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 1A) or LILINA, is a 1,162 amino acid member of the F-box protein family that contains one F-box domain and localises to the nucleus. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in testis, ovary and brain, FBL11 functions to demethylate the Lys-36 residue of histone H3, thereby modulating the histone code. Additionally, FBL11 is thought to promote the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of various phosphorylated proteins. Three isoforms of FBL11 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description: Members of the F-box protein family, such as FBXO33, are characterized by an approximately 40-amino acid F-box motif. SCF complexes, formed by SKP1, cullin and F-box proteins act as protein-ubiquitin ligases and mediates the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. FBXO33 probably recognizes and binds to phosphorylated target proteins.

Description: F box proteins are an expanding family of eukaryotic proteins characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F box. Some F box proteins have been shown to be critical for the ubiquitin mediated degradation of cellular regulatory proteins. In fact, F box proteins are one of the four subunits of ubiquitin protein ligases, called SCFs. SCF ligases bring ubiquitin conjugating enzymes to substrates that are specifically recruited by the different F box proteins. A large family of mammalian F box proteins has recently been identified and classified into three groups based on the presence of either the WD 40 repeats, the leucine rich repeats, or the presence or absence of other protein protein interacting domains. The FBXW2 gene product, the second identified member of the F box gene family, contains multiple WD 40 repeats.

Description: FBXO15, also known as FBX15, is a 434 amino acid protein that contains one C-terminal F-box domain and belongs to the F-box family of proteins. F-box proteins are critical components of the SCF (Skp1-CUL-1-F-box protein) type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex and are involved in substrate recognition and recruitment for ubiquitination. They are members of a larger family of proteins that are involved in the regulation of a wide variety of cellular processes (including the cell cycle, immune response, signaling cascades and developmental processes) through the targeting of proteins, such as cyclins, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors, IkB-a and b-catenin, for degradation by the proteasome after ubiquitination. Via its F-box domain, FBXO15 can directly interact with Skp1 p19 and CUL-1. In addition, FBXO15 is a target of the transcription factor Oct-3/4, however, it does not appear to be essential for early development and fertility.

F-box proteins are critical components of the SCF (Skp1-CUL-1-F-box protein) type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex and are involved in substrate recognition and recruitment for ubiquitination.
