Description: Recently, a number of cytokines belonging to the interleukin (IL)-17 family have been identified. These are termed as IL-17B, IL-17C and IL-17E. IL-17 is a potent proinflammatory cytokine that plays roles in a number of diseases including rheumatoid arthritis , multiple sclerosis , and promotion of tumor growth. IL-17B, C, and E like IL-17 are able to induce proinflammatory responses. However, they do not bind to the IL-17 receptor suggesting that additional IL-17R related receptor might exist. Receptor for IL-17B and IL-17E has been independently isolated by Shi, et al and Lee, et al. and has been designated as EV127 (in mouse) and IL-17Rh1 (in human), respectively. IL-17E induces activation of NF-κB pathway and like IL-17 also induces production of IL-8. The IL17 proteins are a family of potent cytokines that act to induce proinflammatory responses. Studies have shown that IL17E binds strongly to IL17RB. Receptor binding of ligand has been shown to lead to the activation of nuclear factor kappa-B and production of IL8. Exposure of mice to IL17 resulted in a Th-2 like response characterized by increased serum IgE, IgG1 and IgA levels, blood eosinophilia, increased lymphocytes and neutrophils, and pathological changes in the tissues that included eosinophilic infiltrates, increased mucus production, B-lymphocyte hyperplasia and epithelial cell hyperplasia/hypertrophy.

Description: Placental ribonuclease inhibitor (PRI) is a member of a family of proteinaceous cytoplasmic RNase inhibitors that occur in many tissues and bind to both intracellular and extracellular RNases (summarized by Lee et al., 1988 [PubMed 3219362]). In addition to control of intracellular RNases, the inhibitor may have a role in the regulation of angiogenin (MIM 105850). Ribonuclease inhibitor, of 50,000 Da, binds to ribonucleases and holds them in a latent form. Since neutral and alkaline ribonucleases probably play a critical role in the turnover of RNA in eukaryotic cells, RNH may be essential for control of mRNA turnover; the interaction of eukaryotic cells with ribonuclease may be reversible in vivo.

Description: Tau is a key microtubule-associated protein that plays an important role in the formation of microtubules in axons (Binder et al. 1985). Six tau isoforms have been identified as products of a single gene produced by alternative mRNA splicing (Goedert 1990). Tau mutations have been implicated in many neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Pick’s disease and progressive supranuclear palsy. It has been well documented that hyperphosphorylated tau is a major component of paired helical filaments in AD brain (Lee 1995). Serine 416 has been demonstrated to be a major phosphorylation site in vitro by CaM kinase II (Steiner at al. 1990).

Description: Protein kinase activation is a frequent response of cells to treatment with growth factors, chemicals, heat shock, or apoptosis-inducing agents. This protein kinase activation presumably allows cells to resist unfavorable environmental conditions. The yeast 'sterile 20' (Ste20) kinase acts upstream of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade that is activated under a variety of stress conditions. Description: Growth differentiation factor 11 (GDF-11) is a member of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) family. It binds to the TGF-β receptors ALK4, ALK5, and ALK7 and activates the SMAD signaling pathway (Ho et al.). GDF-11 regulates the development of the olfactory system, retina, and pancreas, as well as anterior/posterior patterning of the axial skeleton (Lee and Lee). GDF-11 is an endocrine factor expressed in skeletal muscle, brain, and dental pulp (Kondás et al.). Studies in mice showed that GDF-11 regulates muscle and cardiac aging, and stimulates neurogenesis by remodeling blood vessels (Katsimpardi et al.; Loffredo et al.; Sinha et al.). This product is animal component-free.
