Catalog Number: (BOSSBS-11719R-CY7)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: Calcyon is a single transmembrane protein that interacts with D1 dopamine receptors. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that regulates synaptic transmission involved in learning and memory. D1 receptors, the most abundant dopamine receptor in the central nervous system, appear to modulate the activity of D2 dopamine receptors, mediate various behavioural responses, and regulate neuron growth and differentiation. Calcyon is present in neuronal cell bodies and processes of the cortex and hippocampus, and it is especially abundant in pyramidal neurons. Interaction of Calcyon with D1 receptors results in a release of intracellular calcium.

Catalog Number: (BNUM0007-50)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: Recognizes a protein of 36 kDa, identified as cyclin D1. Cyclin D1, one of the key cell cycle regulators, is a putative proto-oncogene overexpressed in a wide variety of human neoplasms. This antibody neutralizes the activity of cyclin D1 in vivo. About 60% of mantle cell lymphomas (MCL) contain a t(11; 14)(q13; q32) translocation resulting in over-expression of cyclin D1. This antibody is useful in identifying mantle cell lymphomas (cyclin D1 positive) from CLL/SLL and follicular lymphomas (cyclin D1 negative). About 40% of breast carcinomas are positive for Cyclin D1. Occasionally, hairy cell leukemia and plasma cell myeloma weakly express Cyclin D1.

Description: Dopamine is the predominant catecholamine neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain, where it regulates locomotor, emotional, memory, and dietary intake functions, as well as peripheral roles such as hormone secretion and renal function. Dopamine receptors (D1-D5) are members of the seven transmembrane domain containing G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) family A, and are the target of several anti-psychosis and anti-Parkinsonian drugs. The D2, D3, and D4 dopamine receptors are encoded by homologous intron-containing genes, and signal via coupling of Gi/Go alpha G-protein subunits to inhibit adenylyl cyclase activity, as well as modulate cellular ion channel conductance of K+ and Ca2+. This is in contrast to D1 and D5 dopamine receptors, which signal via Gs alpha subunits to activate adenylyl cyclase activity. Coactivation of D1 and D2 receptors has been shown to activate a Gq mediated pathway, stimulating phospholipase C (PLC) and mobilizing intracellular calcium stores. D1 receptors were initially characterized in the striatum and retina and are expressed throughout the brain in the olfactory tubercle, islands of Calleja, entopeduncular nucleus, neocortex, hippocampus, and amygdala. Expression of the D2 receptor is found primarily in the brain (striatum, olfactory tubercle, and nucleus accumbens) and in the anterior and intermediate lobes of the pituitary.
