Supplier: Spectrum Chemical
Description: ZINC GLUCONATE, USP is a zinc salt of gluconic acid can also be manufactured by fermenting glucose. It comes as a white powder and is used in cold treating lozenges and as one of the more effective ways of delivering zinc as a dietary supplement. Spectrum Chemical USP products are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic complex produced by fermentation of Micromonospora purpurea or M. echinospora. It is a mixture of 3 major components designated as C1, C1a, and C2. Gentamicin is used as the sulfate salt. Each component consists of five basic nitrogens and requires five equivalents of sulfuric acid per mole of gentamicin base. Mode of action: Gentamicin causes codon misreading by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, blocking the translocation of peptidyl-tRNA from the acceptor site to the donor site. The bactericidal effect of gentamicin on Pseudomonas aeruginosa is exerted by the binding of gentamicin to the outer membrane, where it displaces natural cations, destabilizes the membrane, and forms holes in the cell surface.Antimicrobial spectrum: Gram-negative bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and other Gram-positive bacteria. Gentamicin sulfate is a broad spectrum antibiotic. It inhibits the growth of a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including strains resistant to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, kanamycin, and colistin, particularly strains of Pseudomonas, Proteus, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus. Gentamicin sulfate inhibits bacterial protein biosynthesis by binding to the 30S subunit of the ribosome.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Storage: +4 °C
Pyruvic acid is an intermediate in sugar metabolism and in enzymatic carbohydrate degradation (alcoholic fermentation) where it is converted to acetaldehyde and CO2 by carboxylase. In muscle, pyruvic acid (derived from glycogen) is reduced to lactic acid during exertion, which is reoxidized and partially retransformed to glycogen during rest. It improves coliform recovery when present in culture medium. It is involved in a metabolic regulatory pathway activated by mitochondrial oxidants. Pyruvate is involved in respiratory regulation in plants by interacting with alternative oxidase at a conserved cysteine residue. It may help prevent hydrogen peroxide mediated cell death.
Sodium pyruvate is utilized as a component in culture broth and media. Sodium pyruvate is used in Wallen fermentation medium to enhance the conversion of oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid by Bacillus sphaericus. Sodium pyruvate has also been used to establish stably transfected human B cell lines.
Sodium Pyruvate has shown antioxidant properties and protective effects against oxygen radicals. Pyruvate is produced as part of glycolysis and is an intermediate in many metabolic pathways. It can be converted into acetyl CoA and enter the TCA Cycle.

Description: Lactic acid is fermentation acid from milk or carbohydrates. It occurs in the blood and muscle fluid of man and animals. The lactic acid concentration increases in muscle and blood after vigorous activity. It is also present in other organs including liver, kidney, and thymus gland, and other body fluids including amniotic fluid.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Sodium pyruvate is used by cells as an easily accessible carbohydrate source. Additionally, it is involved with amino acid metabolism and initiates the Kreb′s cycle. The 100 mM solution should be diluted 1:100 for most cell culture. The use of sodium pyruvate in Wallen fermentation medium to enhance the conversion of oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid by Bacillus sphaericus has been described. A protocol that uses sodium pyruvate to establish stably transfected human B cell lines has been published. It improves coliform recovery when present in culture medium.
