Description: The HB7 antibody is specific for human CD38, a 45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on thymocytes, plasma cells, and monocytes as well as other non-hematopoietic cells. T and B lymphocyte expression is discontinuous and varies based on differentiation state present on immature cells, low on intermediate stages, and high on activated mature cells. It is found on most CD34+ cells, but not on pluripotent stem cells. CD38 is an ectoenzyme that functions to catalyze the synthesis and hydrolysis of cyclic ADP-ribose and is involved in cell signaling, regulating cell adhesion, and activation. Additionally, CD38 has been shown to be a prognostic marker for some leukemias and other diseases.

Description: Human ADP-ribose pyrophosphatase NUDT9 belongs to a superfamily of Nudix hydrolases that catabolize potentially toxic compounds in the cell. NUDT9 alpha protein is targeted highly specifically to mitochondria, whereas the predicted protein of the NUDT9 beta transcript, which is missing this sequence, exhibits no clear subcellular localization. Investigation of the physical and enzymatic properties of NUDT9 indicates that it is functional as a monomer, optimally active at near neutral pH, and that it requires divalent metal ions and an intact Nudix motif for enzymatic activity.

Description: Mono-ADP-ribosylation is one of the posttranslational protein modifications regulating cellular metabolism (e.g. nitrogen fixation) in prokaryotes. Mono-ADP-ribosylation is a process in which the ADP-ribose moiety of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is transferred to an acceptor amino acid. Five mammalian ADP-ribosyltransferases (ART1-ART5) have been cloned, and each ART is expressed in different tissues. ART5 (ADP-ribosyltransferase 5), also known as Ecto-ADP-ribosyltransferase 5, is a 292 amino acid secretory protein that is expressed in testis, heart, skeletal muscle and lymphoma. Functionally, ART5 is implicatetd to play a role in cell signaling and metabolism cascades. Two isoforms of ART5 exist as a result of alternative splicing events.

Description: FUNCTION: Required for ribosome biogenesis and telomere maintenance. Part of the H/ACA small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (H/ACA snoRNP) complex, which catalyzes pseudouridylation of rRNA. This involves the isomerization of uridine such that the ribose is subsequently attached to C5, instead of the normal N1. Each rRNA can contain up to 100 pseudouridine ("psi") residues, which may serve to stabilize the conformation of rRNAs. May also be required for correct processing or intranuclear trafficking of TERC, the RNA component of the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) holoenzyme.

Description: IMPDH2 is the rate-limiting enzyme in the de novo guanine nucleotide biosynthesis. It is thus involved in maintaining cellular guanine deoxy- and ribonucleotide pools needed for DNA and RNA synthesis. It catalyzes the NAD-dependent oxidation of inosine-5'-monophosphate into xanthine-5'-monophosphate, which is then converted into guanosine-5'-monophosphate. IMPDH2 is up-regulated in some neoplasms, suggesting it may play a role in malignant transformation. This gene encodes the rate-limiting enzyme in the de novo guanine nucleotide biosynthesis.
