, CHAPSO
CHAPSO is the hydroxy analog of CHAPS; a non denaturing zwitterionic detergent for solubilising proteins, especially integral membrane proteins while maintaining the functional capability of the protein of interest.
- Useful for the solubilisation of integral membrane proteins
- Critical micelle concentration (CMC): 8 mM
- Aggregation Number:11
It has a more polar head group than CHAPS, giving it a greater solubility. CHAPSO has a high CMC (8 mM) and does not denature membrane-bound proteins. It can solubilise the opiate receptor in a state exhibiting reversible binding of opiates.
Soluble in water (100 mg/ml - clear, colourless to slight yellowish solution), methanol (40 mg/ml- clear, colourless solution).
