Inhibits soluble guanylate cyclase.
Protoporphyrin IX zinc(II) (ZnPP) is an anti-oxidant enzyme heme oxygenase-1. Cellular melanin content in normal human melanocytes treated with ZnPP has been studied. 1 It was used as a standard in a study where the excess formation of ZnPP in iron deficient erythropoiesis was determined by haematofluorometer.
